What's on in July?

Shire of Murray and Peel Harvey Biosecurity Group are teaming up with Murray Library to host a hands-on Nest Box Building Workshop!

The session will begin with a short presentation exploring why artificial nesting hollows are important for supporting local native wildlife. Participants will then build their own pardalote or bat nest box to take home and install at their property.

This workshop involves the use of basic power drills, hand tools, glue and paint, so please wear enclosed footwear, sun protection, and clothes suitable for messy activities. Participants are encouraged to bring their own power drill to help reduce wait times during the workshop. Ages 6+. Parental supervision is required for all children and minors attending.

As nest boxes are limited, the following booking limits apply:

• Maximum of 1 nest box per household (one ticket equals one nest box)

Or join us for our BUZZ OFF! Biosecurity, Bugs and Bees school holiday program!

Buzz the blue-banded bee is off on an adventure, but her day is full of pesky surprises! Join us as we follow Buzz and meet the invasive pests she encounters, like fruit flies, polyphagous shot-hole borer (PSHB), and feral honey bees. Learn how to spot these biosecurity threats and discover ways to help protect our environment. 

Plus, each child will get to build their very own native bee hotel to take home!

Community organisations of the Peel Harvey region have the opportunity to book one of our informative, fun and interactive programs and give children in their community the chance to learn about native animals and pests that affect their region. 

Program duration: 1 hour

FREE OF CHARGE for organisations in the Peel Harvey region (all locations within the following LGAs: City of Mandurah, Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale, Shire of Harvey, Shire of Waroona, Shire of Murray).
