WANTED! Pesky Pests

Find out how introduced animals affect the Peel Harvey region and why they are so successful. What impacts do they have on the environment, the survival of native species and the farming industry? How can we use science to control pests?

Students use their detective skills to investigate a number of crime scenes and create their own WANTED! posters on declared pest animals.

Seeds and Weeds

Learn more about common introduced plants of the Peel Harvey region. How do they become weeds? What damages do they cause? Why are they so successful?

Students will examine different seeds and discuss the features that allow them to spread. Building on that, students will set up and conduct a number of seed dispersal experiments and measure and record the outcomes.
